KENNY, John Alexander
September 23, 1948 – February 5, 2022,
(Retired 2017) Stock Broker, Vice President RBC Dominion Securities Wealth Management
John Alexander Kenny, age 73, of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Passed away unexpectedly at his winter residence in Charleston, SC while enjoying being a snowbird with his partner Annette Thompson.
John was born in Buckingham, Quebec, and worked for Hydro-Quebec in his mid-to-late teens. He was a plumber throughout university, completing his Honors BA in Economics, and then worked briefly at the Bank of Nova Scotia before switching careers to work at Alliance Aviation. After a few years at Alliance, he gained his certification as a Stockbroker then moved onto working with Dominion Securities, where he finished his career of 35 years with RBC Dominion Securities, eventually becoming Vice-President.
John always kept busy and enjoyed working with his hands. He saw much of the US and Canada, while drag racing with his brother and good friends. He loved flying, especially in his prized DHC-2 Beaver on floats C-FFZM. He travelled much of the world on planes, trains, automobiles, sailboats and cruise ships. He helped raise 6 children, across 4 separate marriages. He also helped support many charities over forty years.
John’s signature weekly, or daily, “Check-in” calls were a testament to his caring character, and how much he loved everyone. Words cannot express how sad we are of John’s sudden departure, and how big of a loss he truly is from our lives, but we can all take solace knowing he was a part of our lives, and we were a part of his.
John is predeceased by both his parents, Charles William Kenny (1996) and Mary Suzanne Kenny (nee Dion) (1975) from Buckingham, Quebec, and his wife of 12 Years, Dawn Adele Kenny (nee Atkins) (2009), Ottawa, Ontario.
