It is with profound sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Joyce on January 25 2022 at the age of 88.  Loving wife of 66 years to Michael.  Devoted and proud Mom to Ian, Peter (Dorilyn Kooy) and Tim (Laura Roome).  Awesome Nana to Carly, Jeff, Molly and Chris. Loving sister to Lynda (Ewen Campbell) and sister-in-law to Mary (Dave Blunt).  She will also be fondly remembered by her nephews Greg, Geoff and Tony, her extended family and many great friends. 

Joyce enjoyed a very successful career at the Ottawa Board of Education as an Executive Assistant.  She valued education and was proud to obtain her Master's of Public Administration from Carleton University in 1990.

In retirement, Joyce volunteered with many community organizations, including the Good Companions, Nelson House, the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (serving as Foundation Chair) and Riverside United Church.  She also loved to read, play bridge with her many long-time girlfriends and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society.  She and Michael loved traveling and enjoyed many winters together in Barbados.  We will all miss her tremendously.

Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at Gladstone Avenue) on Friday, February 25th from 5 - 8 pm.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, February 26th at 11 am.  Following Covid protocol, attendance will be limited to registered guests. Our family would like to extend our deep gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Civic Hospital who helped us tremendously.  In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Good Companions or the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre would be greatly appreciated.
