Grace Labbé
Born: May 19, 1941 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia
Passed: July 16, 2022 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Kathryn Grace Labbé passed away on July 16, 2022 at the age of 81.  She is survived by her five children, Paule (Nik Nanos), Marc (Jaqui Cadieux), Phil (Lisa Jamrozinski), David (Emily Borse), Robert (Mary Ellis), and her 13 grandchildren James, Jordan, Greg, Bernadette, Paul, Marc, Norman, Liam, Evelyn, Arthur, Margot, Edwin, and Francis. She is predeceased by her husband Paul and beloved granddaughter Reese. She leaves behind her brother Dan Cameron (Barbara), sister Nancy Morton (Jack), and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, to Norma Cameron (Mcleod) and Russell Cameron, Grace was a proud Cape Bretoner. She graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She moved to Montreal to teach in a Verdun high school. She met Paul on a blind date and they were married on July 9, 1965. Grace and Paul were a strong team, each with a clear role. While Paul led a full and successful career, Grace ran the busy household of five kids (and a dog), with an age range of 16 years. She also took care of her mother and played an outsized role in the broader family. Grace was passionate and determined about all aspects of her life, especially her family and volunteering, her resourcefulness and ability to mobilize people got things done.

Grace was a devout Catholic, member of Opus Dei, and singer in many a Church choir. Grace is remembered for her flair in fashion and decor, ability to create beautiful floral bouquets and set an impeccable table. She was a talented cook and made the finest homemade pies. Her love of music influenced all the kids, who now have a fondness for folk classics and maritime music. And she never passed up the opportunity to tear up the dance floor with her husband.  She spent her final years living with her son where she was able to spend happy times with her grandchildren.
