Laith left this world unexpectedly but peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, October 19, 2020, from an epileptic seizure during his sleep. He was the beloved son of proud parents, Fakhri and Emily, devoted brother of Muna and Rakan, loving uncle of Karim and Zeid, adoring brother-in-law of Tania and John, and close to the hearts of many caring uncles, aunts, cousins and friends around the world.

Laith was born June 3, 1979 in Amman, Jordan, where he grew up and graduated high school from the New English School, then completed a BSc in Computer Science from McGill University. He held positions in banking and hospitality before settling in Ottawa, Canada, where he completed a Culinary Management degree from Algonquin College and had just launched his business in the production of chocolate truffles for the specialty health food market.

Laith was a gentle, loving and considerate young man who lived a life of faith and service. Although he was taken away from us far too soon, Laith’s humor, kindness and decency had the impact of ten lifetimes. He was a rare and thoughtful soul whose compassion and generosity of spirit left an indelible mark on those who knew him. In Laith’s own words, “What I care about most and what I want to do in my life is making a positive change and bringing joy and happiness to people, first to children and to seniors…There are many ways to spread that joy, but I found my way, and that's chocolate!”

Laith will be dearly missed by everyone whose life he touched.

Please join the family via livestream for the funeral service on Saturday, October 24 at 11:30 a.m. EST.

The family requests that you please consider a donation to Epilepsy Ottawa instead of sending flowers.

I would like to offer my deepest condolences to Laith’s family. Laith was a very dear friend of mine at high school and he was one of a handful of people I truely felt myself around because he was so accepting, gentle and kind. We kept in touch intermittently via Facebook in the last few years. I was so very sad to hear that he passed away. No doubt his passing will leave a great void in the lives of those who loved him. Rest in Peace my friend. You were taken far too soon. Janine xxx
