It is with a great deal of sadness and sorrow that I announce the passing of Lenna Elizabeth Scharf on May 8th, 2020 at the age of 74, while in the care of the Ottawa General Hospital. Lenna was predeceased by her father Leonard Scharf and mother Theresa (Tessie) neé McGarry, sister Kathleen (Kay) and her husband Keith Nesbitt and her beautiful niece Keitha Mahon (neé Nesbitt). Lenna is survived by her partner and husband of 43 years Terry Hannafey, as well as nieces Mona, Jennifer and nephew John.

Lenna was a strong and courageous individual who had suffered numerous medical conditions over the past 8 years. I was very fortunate to have been able to have spent the last 3 1/2 days with Lenna by her bedside. Lenna was my everything, she was kind, compassionate, giving, thoughtful, caring, sincere, loving and the best person that had ever come into my life. I will miss Lenna immensely, as I am sure everyone who was fortunate to have known her. I am so very thankful to have been able to have spent 43 years with such a beautiful lady. Lenna, you were taken from me and all who loved you far too early. You have left my loving arms and are now in the loving arms of God. Your suffering is finally over, may you rest in peace, my dear sweet Lenna.

A celebration of Lenna's life will be held once Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted, details to follow. For those wishing to do so, I ask that donations be made in Lenna's name to the Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ottawa.
