Lloyd F. Raphael Q.C.
October 26th 1930 - May 1st 2021
Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on May 1st at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Born in Kingston Jamaica. He attended Law School at the University of New Brunswick 1961-64. Worked with the Tax Counsel from 1965-1967. A proud member of the Department of Justice since 1967.Member of the team to draft the Canadian Goods and Services Tax ACT and Regis. 1964-1984. Member of the team to draft various amendments to the Income Tax ACT and Regis. 1964-1995. Author of Canadian Taxation of Trusts 1980, 1982 & 1983. He was proudly awarded the status of Q.C. in 1990. He was a proud member of the committee appointed to redraft the constitution and Bylaws of the Jamaica-Ottawa Community Association. He leaves behind his much loved wife Vennie. His sons Roderick, Peter and Esmond (Anna-Maria). His daughters Sheila, Junnie and Ermine. His many grandchildren Alycia, Anthony, Jenaia, Anais, Samantha, Sarah, Sharon, Jackie, Marlene and Donna. Lloyd was an avid reader and lover of knowledge. His other great love was real football and the Manchester United FC.
