July 31, 1924 – August 14, 2020

Proud W.W. II veteran and named a Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour by the Government of France in 2017, Lyndon passed away peacefully at The Perley and Rideau Veteran’s Health Centre, Ottawa. Predeceased by his wife Myra Jeanne and sister Sylvia. Lovingly remembered by his sisters Joan, Marion, Jeanne, Yvonne and brother Roy as well as dear friends and relatives living in Wales, Australia, Ireland and France. Lyndon will also be greatly missed by his many good friends here in Ottawa.

Born in Newport, South Wales, Lyndon joined the British Army in 1942 and landed in the first wave of troops on D-Day, June 6, 1944 with the 2nd Battalion South Wales Borderers. He rose to the rank of Sergeant and subsequently joined the Canadian Army in 1953. He spent twenty years in the Canadian Armed Forces. Lyndon was soon recruited to work at the United States Embassy in Ottawa where his organizational talents were greatly appreciated. Meanwhile Lyndon volunteered enthusiastically and generously for many years with the Order of St. John where he was named Commander in 1983.

After retirement he also wrote an autobiography, recording memoirs of his rich and varied adventures and enjoyed sharing these stories. He took up painting for pleasure. Throughout his life Lyndon maintained a disciplined daily routine of exercise and diet.

A service will be held at a later date with interment at Beechwood Cemetery.
