Obituary for Mabel Porter

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mabel, 97, on Sunday, December 8, 2019.
Mabel was born in 1922 in Smiths Falls and is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Marintha Jane. She grew up surrounded and adored by her 5 brothers, James (Alice), Robert (Jean), Lloyd (Bess), William (Keitha) and Burton (Carol), all of whom are predeceased, as well.
Soon after moving to Ottawa, she was employed by the LCBO, where her career spanned more than 40 years. She was proud and honoured to be one of the first women to hold a senior management position within the LCBO.
Mabel was an active member of St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Ottawa. She had tremendous faith and always cherished her involvement in the Church.
She was a loving aunt and is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
We have lost a beautiful and energetic soul, but we are far richer for having had her in our lives.
Friends are invited to the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Monday, December 16 from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 pm. The Funeral will be at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, 217 First Avenue on Tuesday, December 17 at 11am with reception to follow.
Mabel always loved flowers. However, we know her wishes would have been that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Matthew's Anglican Church or the charity of your choice.
