Obituary for Elinor Mackay
With sadness, we announce that Elinor passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of
Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Oakpark Retirement Residence in her 99th year. She was predeceased by her loving husband, James Robert MacKay, and her cherished siblings, James Whillans, Marjorie Moss, and Lois Newcombe. She will be greatly missed by her son Robert Ian MacKay, daughter Janet Katherine MacKay, her grandchildren Jamie and Robyn MacKay Batsch, her sister in law, Grace Whillans and her many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Elinor met her soul mate, Jim, in Ottawa, where together they raised their family. They loved to travel, spend time with family and friends, and especially enjoyed good times at the cottage. She was a wonderful wife, mother, gardener, cook, seamstress - in fact she was good at anything she put her mind to.
A celebration of her life will be held when we are able to gather again.
