Obituary for Marie Josephine Lafond
Marie passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the age of 61. Loving mother of Jennifer Welsh (Joel Laplante) and Morgan Welsh (Eric Beauvais).
Stepmother to Lawrence Murdock and Stephanie Raphael.
Cherished grandmother of Abbie, Emma, Brooke, Madison and Dylan.
Beloved sister of Margaret MacMillan (late James MacMillan).
Will be remembered by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born in Detroit, MI, Marie was the daughter of the late Georges and Valeda Lafond. She immigrated to Canada, the birthplace of her parents, in the 1970s. Marie retired in 2017 after a 40 year career as an admin secretary at Geriatric Psychiatry Community Services of Ottawa.
Friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway), Ottawa, on Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 11 a.m. until time of a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m.
Special thanks to the physicians and the nursing staff at Bruyere Palliative Care Unit for the wonderful care given to Marie in the last few months. The compassion and kindness shown to Marie and to her family will always be fondly remembered.
