Barbara Heyerdahl (nee Jennings) was born in Penetanguishene, Ontario on January 3, 1930, and peacefully went home to be with her Lord on January 2, 2022. Barbara became an elementary school teacher before marrying Axel (deceased) and having children of her own. She loved gardening, reading, playing the piano and praising her Lord. Barbara leaves two children, Ruth and Tom, and granddaughter Valerie (Siobhan). She is predeceased by her sister, Ruth Anne, and her brother, John, and is survived by her oldest sister, Joan. She was loving aunt to 17 nieces and nephews in Canada, the US and Norway. She was special aunt to Johan and Renee. She was loved by many friends, including Jan, Kelli (deceased), Linda, Carole, Beth who mourn her loss and celebrate her life. Her friends recently met at Chartwell Bridlewood Retirement Residence, especially the "G7", will miss her smile and her ability to rise above insurmountable challenges.
Many thanks to the administration and staff at Chartwell Bridlewood Retirement Residence, the Ottawa General Hospital, Dr. Younes and his Team, and Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital and Dr. Chris Barnes and his team. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Dementia Society of Canada, Alzheimer's Society of Canada or Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital would be appreciated.
Family and friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor) on Thursday January 6 from 12 noon until 1:00 pm, where the Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m.
In keeping with COVID protocols, the family requests that those attending be fully double vaccinated, and must show proof of vaccination, masks are mandatory. Attendance is limited and guests must RSVP in advance on this web site using the link below.
