Fond Memories of a Dear Friend

It was through a friend in Ottawa that I recently learned that Barbara had died. I last made contact with her about five years ago when she was at the Colonel By residence. She was still her happy and gracious person but my memories go back to my time at Southminster when she was the active CGIT leader and I was the Dir. of Christian Education ( 1961-1965). We re-connected after many years of silence and corresponded every Christmas, with Barbara's card having her news all over the card! Our daughter, Joy, was a journalism student at Carleton, allowing us to have visits, sometimes with Grant taking us to the Swiss Chalet! Barbara never lost her enthusiasm for learning and young people and she will always be a mentor for me. My condolences to Thomas and James and families about whom I would hear with great delight and pride. May these troublesome times allow you to pause and reflect on your mother's life, which, I know you will celebrate at a future date.
