Obituary for Mary Blair Fowler (Jackson)

FOWLER, Mary Blair, B. Eng.

Mary Fowler (nee Jackson) died on Thursday, January 16, 2020. She simply faded away, just as she wished. Predeceased by her beloved husband Roy (2001), she leaves behind their daughter Susie Fowler Dacey (Elaine McCausland) and grandson Kevin Dacey. Mary was the first woman to graduate from the engineering faculty (mechanical) at McGill University in 1946. Mum didn’t want a formal service so instead, friends are invited to gather at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor), Ottawa, on Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 1 - 4 p.m. where we will raise a glass or two to the very best mother in the world. Toasts will begin at 2 p.m. Please, no flowers. In lieu, if desired, please make a donation to Carefor Health and Community Services. Mum lived at their Richmond Care Home and attended their Alzheimer's Carling Day Programme where she held court and entertained all. Mum’s angels in both those places are too numerous to list here. Kevin, Elaine and I offer our heartfelt thanks to all who cared for mum over the last ten years including the amazing staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
