Obituary for Neil Duncan MacNair
Neil Duncan MacNair, 60, of Ottawa, Ontario, passed suddenly in his sleep on February 20, 2020.
Neil is survived by his daughter, Lindsey MacNair and future son-in-law, Chris Thompson, his siblings, Jan (Russ), Bruce (Mihaela), sister-in-law, Gwen, along with many loving nieces and nephews-in-law. Predeceased by his father, Donald, his mother, Marjorie,his brother, Ian, and his sister Sandra. Neil was a loving father, brother, and cherished friend to many.
Neil loved to ski. This passion was fueled by his unwavering dedication to the Canadian Ski Patrol, which he joined in 1982 at Edelweiss Valley Ski Resort. He was always proud to contribute his time to the organization both during the ski season and special events during the summer. He loved nothing more than to welcome new recruits to the organization and help them feel empowered to practice their hard-work and training in real-life scenarios. He loved his Gatineau Zone family and was thrilled to visit his Calgary Zone friends out west during his visits to see his daughter. His enthusiasm for the sport and beaming smile will be missed.
Neil surrounded himself with friends and family who made him laugh. He could often be found up at his family farm in Quebec, tinkering with machines, helping set up bee farms, or getting the pool ready for the family to enjoy. Without hesitation, Neil would always be the one manning the BBQ for dinner.
A special thank you to those who have offered their love and support. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Edelweiss Valley Ski Resort in Wakefield, Quebec on Sunday, March 1 at 4:00PM . Neil will be laid to rest close to his family farm in Quebec.
