Obituary for Owen Michael "THE Prince" Prince

After a long illness with cancer Owen passed peacefully at Stillwater Creek Retirement, previously Kanata, (Ottawa) on May 28, 2020, in his 90th year. Owen was born in Montreal, on the Eastside, learning to fight on the streets for self defense as it was in the day. Owen had many active roles in the community such as the opening/promoting the Kanata Senior Centre, working with Conservative candidates, sports, and letters to the editor. Owen was a Barbershop singer, Leader of several folk groups going strong, Politician, scholar, sports coach, Judo black belt, and boxer. Owen had a great sense of humor and was always kidding people, especially the ones he just met. He referred to himself as Owen THE Prince.

Owen is survived by his wife Connie of 65 years, who loved and cared for him up until the end. His children: Brian (Lucy); Laurie (Danny) and late son Kevin. We all learned so much from Owen as a loving, supporting and mentoring Dad. He is survived by 5 grandchildren (Cheryl (Marco), Kimberly, Michael, Owen Jr, Breana), 6 great-granddaughters (Bailey, Madyson, Jorden, Olivia, Haley, Abby). His guidance made us all better people.

He contributed so much to make the world a better place. The family wishes to thank Stillwater Creek Retirement Home staff for their exceptional care for Owen and Connie who moved there earlier this year. Special thanks to Dr. Derek Jonker and staff at Queensway Carleton for giving Owen six more years of quality life.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date at St. Patrick’s Church Fallowfield. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cancer Society would be appreciated.
