Obituary for Paul Agostine Capello

Paul Agostine Capello
Passed away peacefully at home on March 1st. Paul, in his 88th year, beloved husband and best friend of the late Judith for 50 years. Loving father of Anthony (Dia), Matthew (Allison) and Mary (Charles). Special grandfather to Nolan, Norah and Nell. Dear brother of Gerry and late Peter and Brother-in-law to Pegi and Maureen. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Ottawa, Paul was the son of Peter and Irene Capello. A passionate and successful businessman, Paul started Capello Audio Electronics in 1962 and grew the business over the years into one of the most specialized audio-visual companies in the country. The business evolved significantly over the decades to offer highly sophisticated systems to a range of government and corporate clientele. He was President and CEO until 2007 when Capello Audio Electronics was sold to his sons Matthew and Anthony. Up until his death he maintained an office at the company and continued to mentor his sons and the other staff on overall business best practices and strategies. Always the consummate gentleman, known for his warm smile and friendly words, he was extremely well respected in both his social and professional life. His passions included time at the cottage, travelling, tennis, skiing and his daily walks with his beloved dogs. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 Mcleod Street (at O’Connor) on Friday March 6, 2020 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 400 St Laurent Boulevard, Ottawa, on Saturday March 7, 2020 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully accepted.
