Condolences

Condolence From: David Phillips, on behalf of the Phillips family
Condolence: Our deepest condolences to the Meggs family on the recent passing of Peter. Peter and Kay were amongst the closest friends of our parents, extending back to the 1950s when the two young families were neighbours in Ottawa. Over the years, they spent many happy times together. Peter was also a valued friend and support to our father after our mother passed away thirty years ago. It was a privilege for me to have met and spoken with Peter on a number of occasions in those years. I also vividly recall listening frequently to Peter on CBC radio when he presented the shows "Concern" and "Open House". Peter made an important contribution to public broadcasting in Canada and to Canadian public life. Peter was a wonderful person and we know he will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Condolence: I was thinking about the few persons that I still send a real Christmas card to - as opposed to digital greetings - and this is one I always enjoyed exchanging. My late husband David was ordained the same day as Peter and our two families maintained friendships over many years. Peter and Kay were godparents to our third son Stephen - and he traveled alone for a visit at a very young age. Peter and I have corresponded over the years since my husband's death 13 years ago and he remained lively and interesting to the end. I know that you will miss him and hope that many wonderful memories will sustain you in the days ahead.

Condolence From: David Lint
Condolence: I worked with Peter at CBC in the 1980’s. An oasis of calm in an often chaotic, resistant and cynical forest! With Doug Ward, he made radical and enduring changes to CBC radio. Certainly a Life well-lived.
