On Friday, April 17, 2020, age 77 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
Beloved husband of Wendy (nee Cherryholme). Predeceased by dearly loved sons, Randy and Michael. Loving father of Steven (Danielle) and Daniel; step-father of Robert Tomkinson; grandfather and great-grandfather of Amanda Sauriol (John Foster), Jordan Sauriol, Andrew Tomkinson, Kyle McCullough, Emma Harrington, Joey Tomkinson Legault, Jaxon Archibald and Fin Foster. Survived by brother, Jacques (Kathi), sisters-in law Elaine Holmes (the late Bruce Magnus), Lynda (Richard “Dick” MacKay), Bonnie (John Fowler), Sandra (Dave Forwell) and Susan (Danny McCarthy) and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Predeceased by parents Aurele and Anita (nee Gamache), parents-in-law Richard and Dorothy Cherryholme, brother Paul and brothers-in-law, Richard and John Cherryholme.
Richard was a retired employee of the Ottawa Separate School Board where he worked first as a school bus driver and finished his career before retirement as Head Custodian at Holy Family School in Ottawa. Many thanks to the caring front line doctors, nurses and support staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, the Home Dialysis Clinic and his family doctor, Dr. Margaret Deutsch. For those wishing, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, the Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation or the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation.
