Dearly beloved son of Shirley and Robert Gilchrist, Grandson of Myrtle &. Cecil Connelly and Violet & Jack Gilchrist.  Dan’s culinary career began on the ski hills  of Jasper, off season travelling Europe, picking grapes in Greece, making many friends along the way.  Graduating from the New York School for Social Research-New York Restaurant School.  Daniel worked as talented chef in New York, New Orleans, and Miami Beach.  Later he studied French at University in Quebec City and Horticulture at Algonquin. Later he enjoyed Jamaica, Cuba, Mexico.  Dan was adventurous, kind, caring, social.  Enjoyed interior design,  vintage, antiques, gardening, cottage life.  Surviving are his mother, brother and sisters, Randal (Liz Striegler), Rosalind (Les Collett), Nancy, Corinne Gilchrist, nieces and nephews; Quintin, Lauren, Gracie, Noah and Charlotte.   Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor) on Saturday June 11, 2022 from 10am until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11am. In Memoriam donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation appreciated.
