Obituary for Robert Vincent "Bob" Brouillard

Robert Vincent "Bob" Brouillard
March 4, 1944 – July 18, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Bob’s sudden passing at the Almonte General Hospital on July 18, 2020 at the age of 76. Beloved brother of Bonnie (Jim Murphy) and Donna (Roland de la Bourdonnaye). Caring and considerate uncle to Michelle (Mitchell Robitaille) and Philippe (Abbi Barton), and forever loved by his niece and goddaughter, Jennifer (Cory Purdy). Extra-special great-uncle to Aaron, Ava and Mia. Predeceased by his parents, Velma (Garvey) and Francis Brouillard, as well as his sister Karen.

Bob led an incredible life. Born in Ottawa, Ontario he completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa (St. Patrick’s College) in 1963 and received his MBA from what is now known as Ivey Business School (University of Western Ontario) at the age of 22. Bob had a remarkable career as a management consultant at the firm now known as Deloitte. He was a partner and senior leader in the firm’s consulting practice for over 30 years and served as the Managing Partner of the Ottawa consulting practice, the Canadian consulting practice and the European consulting practice. He was at the forefront of merging all of Deloitte’s European practices following the creation of the EU before he retired in 2003. Countless past and present leaders in the firm and in many business and government organizations credit Bob for his personal mentorship and guidance.

Throughout his life, Bob contributed significantly, both personally and professionally, to the Catholic Church and several of its religious orders. In recognition of his work with the Catholic Church in Wales, he was appointed to the Association of Papal Orders in Great Britain.

Those who knew Bob would tell you that despite his being well known in the business world, his ever hectic schedule and his worldly travels, he will be remembered most for his kind and generous heart and sense of family. In addition to being a generous benefactor for a number of organizations, funds and charities, Bob took so many under his wing. He offered, without reservation, his advice, time and support in every way possible.
Although never married and with no children, he was like a second father to so many. Those who worked with him at Deloitte were considered “family”, those in his community were more than just acquaintances and the consideration and care that he showed to his immediate and extended family will never be forgotten. In addition to his generosity, Bob will always be remembered for his love of entertaining, the great outdoors and cottage life, music, his sharp wit, and his wonderfully hilarious Type-A personality!

In light of the pandemic, a private family viewing and small Catholic funeral service will be held. In memoriam donations may be made to the Almonte General Hospital, 75 Spring Street, Almonte, ON K0A 1A0 or a charity of your choice.
