Sheila MacKinnon Selley
1942-2022
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we share that Sheila passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the age of 80. Sheila Selley was born in Bagshot England in 1942, the only child of Alexander and Lily MacKinnon. She came to Canada in 1946, when her father was appointed as Steward at Rideau Hall.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Douglas, her children Alistair and Maggie, her grandson Matheson, relations in Canada and Scotland, and many friends at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and throughout the community.
Sheila had a successful career with the public service, enjoying her years at the Pay Research Bureau most of all. She spent countless hours volunteering with the church, community groups, local schools, Pflag, the grandmother to grandmother's campaign, and truth and reconciliation through the Presbyterian church, just to name a few. Her kindness, caring, and dedication will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held Friday June 17th at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, from 6pm to 8pm. A funeral service, will be held on Saturday June 18th at 11am at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 82 Kent Street, followed by a reception at 1:30pm at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry.
