Obituary for Susan Elizabeth Peacock-Hacking

H.D., N.D. (P.Q)

With great sadness Dr. Roger Hacking announces the passing of his beloved wife on April 23, 2022 at the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Fredericton, NB in 1958 to the late Lt. Col Hugh Peacock and Laetitia Tariff-Peacock.  She lived the vagabond life of a military family.  This developed her into an adventurous soul.  After high school, she got a degree in Recreational Management which eventually led her via work as an air medivac flight attendant in the North with First Air.  This gave her a love for the North and she stayed in then Frobisher Bay (now Iqaluit) running the local community recreational facilities for five years.

Her next adventure was to travel to France to study French.  She returned to Canada where she became the manager of the Nepean Sailing Club.  It was here she met her husband Dr. Roger Hacking.  Over the years she took up sailing, golf, Scottish Country Dance and traveling around the world.  She also studied Homeopathy for twenty five years.

She will be dearly missed by her husband Roger, mother Laetitia, sister Lisa Peacock-Boyuk and her nieces Olivia and Farrah.

A Celebration of Susan’s life will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Saturday, May 7 from 2 to 4pm with words of remembrance at 3pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa of the Little Flower, Fort William, Quebec on Monday, July 4 at 11am.
