Obituary for Suzanne Hélène Schnob

Suzanne Hélène Schnob passed away suddenly on December 22nd, 2022 at the young age of 73 in her home in Ottawa, Ontario.

Suzanne was loving wife and soulmate to John Graham for more than 36 years, travelling together everywhere they could for as many years as they could. Suzanne was cherished mother to Jennifer (Brandon) and Christopher (Christina), always putting the needs of her ‘kids’ ahead of herself. Grandmére Suzanne will be sorely missed by her beloved “trésors”, Tyler and Alexander. She would do anything for her boys. Suzanne also opened her heart to her grandaugher-in-law, Charlotte always making her feel welcomed.

Suzanne laisse derrière elle ses deux frères bien-adorés, Normand (Lina) et Denis, et sa sœur Louise. She was a devoted sister-in-law to Barbara (the late Lloyd Bell), and the late Ruth and Gerry Stock. Tante Suzanne is survived by so many loving nieces and nephews: Lisa, Christian (France), Eric et Steve, de la région de Ste. Cécile de Masham; and by Bill (Nicole), Greg (Jennifer), John (Wendy), Cyndy (Steve), Brian (Judy), Dan (Joanne), and Susan, all originating from the Peterborough area. She was also adored by many great nieces and nephews. Suzanne will never be forgotten by her very best friends: Patti and Pierre, Muguette (and the late Frank Clarke), and the late Nancy Martin. We cannot also forget that she built special relationships with Jennifer and Christopher’s extended family on their mom’s side, including: Marg and Gerry of Ottawa, Pauline and the late Randy Derry of Southampton, Mike and Carol of Allenford, and as well all of their children, whom also refer to her as their “Aunt”.

Suzanne was born to André Schnob and Hélène Brazeau on October 12, 1949 in Sainte-Cécile-de-Masham, Québec. Retired from the federal government in 2003, after serving more than 35 years and working the majority of those years were with the Canadian International Development Agency.  Suzanne was also an accomplished entrepreneur early on in her career, as a co-owner and operator of “The Brunch Bunch”, where she met her husband, John, and best friend Patti.

As a retiree and not one to sit around, Suzanne volunteered for various charities and organizations, including raising money for cancer research, quilting blankets for senior citizens, knitting for premature babies, helping with the Big Cedar lake paddle fests, the Canada Wide Science fair, and even serving chicken downtown on Canada day!

Of late, you could either find Suzanne relaxing at their ‘Chalet’ on Big Cedar Lake surrounded by her family and cottage friends (Bob and Pam), or travelling to fabulous places with the love of her life, John, or enjoying quilting get-aways with her various quilting guilds.

For Those I Love – For Those that Love Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go.

I have so many things to see and do.

You must not tie yourself to me with tears,

Be happy that we had so many years.

I gave you my love, you can only guess,

How much you gave me in happiness.

I thank you for the love you’ve shown,

But now I must travel on alone.

So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must,

Then let your grief be comforted by trust.

It’s only for a while that we must part,

So bless the memories within your heart.

I won’t be far away, for life goes on,

So if you need me, call and I will come.

Though you can’t see or touch me I’ll be near,

And if you listen with your heart you’ll hear,

All of my love around you soft and clear.

And then when you must come this way alone,

I’ll greet you with a smile and welcome you home.
