Obituary for Teresa "Terry" Spence
Passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 25, 2020 at the age of 82. She was born on October 8, 1937 in Sheenboro, QC.
Beloved wife of Tom for 62 years. Loving mother to Jeff and Greg (Tina). Doting and proud grandma of Emily and Kayla who became the centre of her universe from the day they were born. Dear daughter of the late Tom and Grace Fox. Dear sister to Eldon (Janet), and the late Michael, Muriel, Peter, Thomas and James. Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. Devoted and long-time friend to many.
Above all, Teresa was a dedicated wife and mother and the heart and soul of the Spence family. She was a fierce advocate for her family, selflessly placing their needs above her own. Teresa made her home a nurturing second home to family, her sons’ close friends and many neighbourhood kids.
Teresa was also an accomplished woman entrepreneur and community member. She started her career with the Bank of Montreal in 1954, worked with Minto for close to a decade, and then started and grew a successful home-based gift basket company, which she operated for over 15 years. Teresa was also an active volunteer with Birthright of Ottawa for many years, offering love and emotional support to many women and girls.
Teresa embodied strength, generosity, compassion and wisdom, all with style and grace. Her joyful laugh, comforting voice, and unconditional love and support will be greatly missed.
