Obituary for Veronica "Vera" Grushman (Tureanu)

Veronica "Vera" Grushman (Tureanu)
19 June 1925 – 4 August 2020

Passed away with her family by her side in Ottawa on August 4, 2020. Vera was the beloved wife of the late George Grushman for 62 years. She was the loving mother of Andrei (Ursula) Grushman and was very close to her nephew, Volodea (Sanda) Novikov of Jerusalem, her niece Dalia (Nissim) Mevorach of Tel Aviv, and her cousin Sheldon (Irene) Hersh of Sedona, Arizona.

Born in Satu Mare, Romania, Vera was the driving force behind the emigration of her family from Romania to Canada in 1960. She worked as a lab technician at hospitals in Toronto and in the federal public service. Vera was an avid bridge player, loved music, and travelled widely. She had a special gift for friendship, and will be missed by family and friends around the world.

A private graveside service will be held at Jewish Memorial Gardens, Osgoode. For those wishing, the service may be viewed on this site by clicking on the webcasting button to the left.. For information on the service please contact the funeral home directly.

A special thanks to the wonderful staff and residents of the Stirling Park Retirement Community for their care and friendship over the past two and a half years. Donations to the charity of your choice would be gratefully accepted.
