Winnipeg May 5, 1946 - Ottawa September 4, 2020
Peacefully on the evening of Friday, September 4, 2020, Wilda Lynne Phillips passed away with her niece Deb and nephew Bob by her side. She is now reunited with the love of her life Thomas (Corky) Lahey.
Welcoming Wilda to her next journey are her parents Robert and Orma (nee Richards) Phillips, sister Wilene Jeffery and brother Ron Phillips, special Aunt Wilma and mother-in-law Wava Lahey.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law Paige Phillips, nieces and nephews Deb (Dave), Tim, Bob (Cheryl), Shannon (Kevin), Laurel (Mike) and many great-nephews and nieces, as well as one great-great nephew, all of Winnipeg; her Godson Casey Floyd, many cousins, her childhood friends, brother-in-laws Bob (Ruth), Michael; nephews Greg, Dale and a multitude of friends in Ottawa, whom she adored, are also left to cherish her memory.
Wilda was fondly known as Babe and Auntie Babe to her Winnipeg family and friends. In Wilda fashion, she made each family member feel so special and they relished her visits to Winnipeg.
Wilda was everyone's best friend. She had so many friends that it required making categories in order to notify them all of her passing; the Y (Tee It Up, Women of Distinction), Cornerstone Housing for Women, St. Patrick's Basilica, Zonta Club of Ottawa, her university friends, The Hunt, GDO (Girls Day Out), The Friendship Club, Pig Snorts, her neighbours, favourite shopkeepers and even a category for the trades! Everyone had a special relationship with Wilda. She was the best listener ever. She was a deep thinker who put her convictions into action. Wilda's heart was huge and she was blessed with a bright spirit full of grace and joy. She walked lightly on this earth and made a deep impact.
Wilda's family would like to thank Donna, Kevin, Susie, John, Marlena and all her dear friends, Dr. Clemons and staff and to Nurse Darlene at Elizabeth Bruyere Hospital for your love, compassion and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ottawa YMCA Wilda Phillips Leadership Bursary Fund or The Cornerstone Housing for Women. With regrets, due to the present circumstances funeral arrangements are private.
