Condolence From: Kevin Smith
Condolence: Almost 50 years ago at CFB Gagetown NB, I met Padre Fairlie for the first time. I was a 13-year-old boy and the vice president of the Church youth group there. From that moment on we became life long friends. Two long Military careers me in the RCAF and Bill in the Army we served in places all over the world from Egypt to Australia. Occasionally sharing time whether in person on via the phone. Sometimes several years would go by, but I know we often thought about what each other was up to. Surely that leads us both to smiles. I have always referred to him as my friend and mentor. His opinions spoke often to me from that amazing inner voice we all have. I can assure you that not a week has gone by that I haven't thought about this one of a kind, very wise, caring, and truly loving man of the "Holy Other". ( His words not mine) Last summer I spent a wonderful last visit with Bill and Ann. Finally, I had the chance to tell him and Ann in person the positive impact they had in my life and will continue to do so. With all the luck I have had, plus the peace I feel within, I thank you, Padre Fairlie To Ann, his entire family and all those people, he has impacted, my thoughts are with you. Hugs to all
