Obituary for Yolanda McCay (Marotta)

1924 - 2022

Just shy of her 98th birthday, Yolanda McCay (nee Marotta) passed away in hospital on February 10th following complications from a fall in December. Born and raised in Outremont, she spent most of her career in Montreal, then moved to Ottawa to work for the federal government in communications and translation. She lived in Ottawa for more than 40 years. Yolanda loved art and classical music, especially opera, and she volunteered for several years at the National Arts Centre. Left to mourn are her sister Louise Breber, nieces, a nephew, her dear friend Joan Wade (Montreal), and goddaughters Micaela Breber (niece) and Andrea Neill (caregiver). The family deeply appreciates the care and kindness that Yolanda received from all staff at Alta Vista Manor, and more recently at Perley Health Centre and the Ottawa General Hospital. As was her wish, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place with interment at Mount Royal Cemetery in Outremont this Spring.
