Obituary for Margaret Lillian Stevenson (Smith)

Margaret Lillian Stevenson (Smith)
Stevenson, Margaret Lillian “Peggy” 1926 – 2016

Our cherished and much loved mother and grandmother, Peggy Stevenson (nee Smith) passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20th, at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late John Stevenson and loving mother of Tom Stevenson (Michelle) and Sally Enright (John). Very proud “Nanny” of Matthew, Jimmy, Megan and Michael. Peggy is survived by her dear sister Carol Thompson (Stuart) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Gerry Smith (Claire). Family was always at the centre of Peggy’s life, and her extended family, the Costellos and the Enrights, were always close to her heart.

Peggy lived her entire life in Ottawa and had a wide circle of friends—many of whom she’d known since childhood—most notably, her best friend from the age of 5, Shirley Van Dusen. Peggy lived life to the fullest right into her 90’s, surrounding herself with many wonderful friends. Her life was enriched by the good times she shared with the “Opinicon gang”, the “Famous Players” bridge club, and her dear friends and neighbours at 10 Driveway, just to name a few.

Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Thursday May 26, 2016 from 1-4pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, 95 Somerset Street W. on Saturday May 28, 2016 at 10:30am.
If so desired, donations in memory of Peggy can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
