Mary Armitage (Armitage)
Mary Ada Catherine Armitage died peacefully in her sleep in her 97th year on August 27th, 2019, at Wakefield Memorial Hospital. She was born on a farm outside of Victoria BC, and lived most of her long, full life in Chelsea, QC. She was predeceased by her husband Germain Lamoureux.
Mary was a devout Catholic, devoted sister to her 3 brothers, favourite aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a loving sister-in-law.
Mary was brilliant and hard working. Her bookkeeping, stenography career started in Victoria, 1942 with RBC, 1947 with Central Mortgage and Housing until she moved alone, across the country in 1950 to their main office in Ottawa. She was hand picked in 1954 to work for Federal Minister, Robert Winters, and went on to work with Howard Green, Paul Martin, Hédard Robichaud, and Jean-Eudes Dubé over more than 30 years.
Along with numerous accolades from her working life, she served for decades as treasurer for Saint Stephen's Parish, Gatineau Historical Society, and Castenchel Choir.
Mary gave generously in every way to family, friends and church community. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Stephen's Parish or a charity of choice.
