Obituary for Jane Callan - Robinson

Jane Callan - Robinson
Jane “Janey” Callan – Robinson, 73 years young, of Chelsea Quebec, peacefully passed away on April 16th, 2019 while in the loving care of her Kit, son Chris Ritchie and family, John Callan, Diana Carr and Lindsay Callan, all of whom are heartbroken.

Jane, daughter of Jack & Betty Callan, graduated from Nepean High School and then obtained her teacher’s certificate. She taught public school for 10 years. Her love of people and her natural gift of connecting with others ultimately led to a rewarding 20 year career with staffing agencies in Ottawa. Janey, a true "tomboy" in her youth, spent summers with her parents, younger brother John and many cousins (George & Doug Callan, Bev, Sondra, Randy and Rick Geel) at Rideau Ferry and thereafter the family cottage on Big Rideau Lake, which gave her a lifelong love of cottaging. As a teenager she was stylish and athletic, especially on the dance floor. Janey met the love of her life, Kit, in the summer of 1999 at Grand Lake. Janey and Kit were happily married for 14 years. Retirement for Janey and Kit were truly their years of bliss, highlighted by countless dinner parties with family and their closest gang of friends at Robinson Island on Grand Lake, and subsequently numerous boating and rafting with so many of their dear friends on the Gatineau River, as well as memorable trips to visit a best friend Jocelyn, in Florida.

Lady Jane, as she was also known, had the sunniest of dispositions, was kind to everyone and could make friends in any group, young or old. In another life, she could have been an interior designer as she had a sixth sense for colour and staging on which she was frequently consulted by family members. Janey truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. Our precious Janey will forever be an inspiration for all of us to treasure.

A celebration of Janey’s lovely life will be held on Saturday April 20th, at 3pm, at McGarry Funeral Chapel in Wakefield Quebec (176 Quebec Route 105 Wakefield QC J0X 3G0).

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in care of “La Maison des Collines” - 99 Burnside Road, Le Peche QC, J0X 3G0, the new palliative hospice center in nearby Wakefield, would greatly please her.
