Condolence From: Marcio Bahia
Condolence: Oh my Goodness, I just found out about her passing away now. I used to be her tenant, I was also her graduate student and I considered her a dear friend. I am so sad right now. I would like to leave my condolences to all her family. Thank you, Ann, for everything!

Marcio.

Condolence: Like so many whose condolences are recorded already, I was shocked to hear of Ann’s death. Over 17 years I came to know her as a kind and generous woman who understood the privilege we share by virtue of our Canadian roots. She showed particular concern for children without parental care, and contributed annually in support of them through SOS Children’s Villages. I will miss her as a neighbour and friend.

Condolence: Ann and I worked together over the years during one of the first joint UOttawa-Carleton University data adventures decades ago. We shared a warm and abiding friendship and I will miss her humour and kindness as well as her scholarship.

Condolence: I first met Ann in the 1980s when, as a grad student, I taught some courses at the UofO. Although I never knew her well, I often ran into her at the CSA, and was always impressed by both her lively, cheerful character, and her commitment to a feminist sociology. Like others, I'm saddened by her loss, and I’ll miss her presence in the CSA.

Condolence: When I was a graduate student at Carleton many years ago, Ann hired me to teach Intro Sociology to night students at Ottawa U. She was such a kind and generous person she will never be forgotten. Moreover, her intelligence shone in any presentation she gave at conferences and meetings. She was always able to communicate her thoughts clearly and with a love of her chosen discipline. My condolences to her family and friends.

Condolence: I will remember Ann as a feminist scholar and organizational leader. She brought a wealth of knowledge to RC05, RC32, and to the whole of ISA as Vice President Research. She made an invaluable contribution, including giving generously of her time and knowledge in undertaking some difficult but important tasks in building a success professional organization. Many of us counted on her knowledge and experience. I learned from her and I respected her ethics, kindness and ability to collaboratively work toward building a more inclusive international organization. Ann will be missed.
