Obituary for Elizabeth "Mary" Nodwell (Fudge)

Elizabeth "Mary" Nodwell (Fudge)
NODWELL, ELIZABETH MARY
1939-2019

Mary (née Fudge) died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 80 on July 12, 2019, in Swansea, Wales. Born March 21, 1939, in Porth, Wales, she was the younger daughter of Reginald Fudge and Mary (Rees) Fudge. After receiving her teaching degree in Britain, she moved to Canada in 1961 where she married Allan Nodwell July 3, 1965. Mary had a love of learning, a genuine joie to vivre, and she spent her life teaching kindness and generosity by example. She will be fondly remembered for her decades of teaching kindergarten at Wakefield Elementary School where she was known for her easy laugh and her jolly songs. She retired in 1996 and remained active in the community with the Anglican Church, tutoring, book club and baking (welsh cakes). She loved travel, Shakespeare, TED talks and her cherished grandchildren, to whom she was “Aggie”. Mary is predeceased by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her brother Trevor (Eileen), nieces Rhiannon Lewis and Mari-Sian, her daughter Bethan, son Trefor (Jillian Macdonald) and grandchildren, Sam and Robyn (Hoopey), Berkley and Wilder (Nodwell). Funeral service will take place Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 1-2pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 693 Riverside Road, Wakefield, followed by a memorial service from 2:30-5:30pm at Gwen Shea Hall, Wakefield Community Centre. Visitation on Friday, September 20, at McGarry Memorial Chapel in Wakefield from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. Messages of sympathy to: bethannodwell@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Church of the Good Shepherd in Wakefield.
