Condolence: I consider myself blessed to have known Mr smith
We was a model for many how to take care of everyone around him
Always inspire me with his stories and his sense of humour
May God bless the family and Grant all peace and comfort
He is now where
there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.

Condolence: To Dinah, Erin, Bob, Sarah and Kristin,

Please accept our most sincere condolences on Uncle Eric's passing. He was an incredibly courageous, caring and humble man, with lovely sense of humour and zest for life. He loved his family and his community. I was babe in London during the second blitz when Eric was routinely hunting V1's, and flying dangerous sorties in his Mosquito over Europe. I and so many others are eternally grateful to brave RCAF airmen like him who, without a thought joined the fight for freedom, and helped to defend us. It was such an honour and a privilege to have known Eric.

May God bless you all and help to heal the pain of loss you feel at this time. Sheila and I will miss Eric greatly, but we know he has his eternal wings, and is now with the Lord's Squadron.

Condolence: Our deepest sympathy to Dinah, Erin & family.

It has been an honor and a pleasure to have known Eric. We have enjoyed his company on the ice & behind the glass. Eric was always gracious to me even though he freely admitted if he had to choose between a navigator & JP4, he'd take the extra fuel. A true Canadian hero.
Godspeed S/L Smith - have a good last flight.

Condolence From: André LaFrance
Condolence: At my father's funeral in July 2014, Mr. Smith was kind enough to attend and after introducing himself he pointed out to me his name in my father's log book. It was not hard to find, there it was on page 1. Flight Lieutenant Smith introduced my father to flight as his instructor for the first 8 flying hours of his 4355 hour career total on the Harvard trainer in late 1947 at RCAF Centralia ON. Claude LaFrance went on to follow Mr. Smith's flight path to Korea flying F86 Sabres with the USAF who also awarded him a DFC for downing a Mig 19.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

Condolence: Dianah, Erin & Family.
We were so sorry to learn of Eric's passing and I am so glad that I was able to have a chat with him on the phone on the occasion of his birthday this year. I enjoyed his talks and related experiences of flight over the years since I have been interested in the history of WWII. We owe Eric and his generation a great deal for what they did and the sacrifices they made. Our deepest sympathies go out to you at this difficult time.

Condolence: Dear Dinah & Family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy on Eric's passing. He was truly a giant among men and we were so privileged to know him. I always enjoyed visiting with him. He was a "giver" and gave of himself to his family, his country and his community.
Rest eternal grant unto him O Lord and let light perpetual shine upon him.
Heather & Ivan Tanner,
Vars

Condolence: What a treasure to have an Uncle like Eric. He was one of a kind. Visiting with him was always an event that never disappointed. Uncle Eric and Aunt Dinah were always happy to see you, were always interested in what was going on in your life and always had a good story to tell....well more than one actually. I will never forget the look on the tour guide’s face at the Aviation Museum when Uncle Eric interrupted him to tell the young man that he had flown the fighter jet in front of us several decades ago. Eric then produced his log book that showed the tail number matched his flight log entries. A magic moment for all of us!
Rest In Peace Uncle Eric.
