In Ottawa on April 18, 2014 in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Miron). Born in Cornwall, Ontario on October 19, 1924 he was the loving father of Patricia (Danny Kraftcheck), Michael (Anna Fummerton), Ted (Stephanie), Sheila (Guy Mongeon), Colleen, Gail VanDenHanenberg (Mark Seabrook), Maureen, Sean (Sylvia). Loving Poppa Moon to Stacey, Ryan, Mark, Brad, Katie, Leslie, Mathew, Philippe, Erin, Reid, Harrison, Kaley, Tina, Mitchell, Jamie, Danielle, Meaghan, Morgan and fourteen great-grand children.
Served during WWII with the RCAF and was shot down in 1945; returned to duty after briefly having been missing-in-action. A partner with the law firm of Gibson, Sands & Flanigan in Kingston, he was appointed to the Bench in 1970 and served until his retirement in 1994. He was subsequently appointed to the Pensions Appeals Board and, thereafter, finished his distinguished legal career with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, of Ottawa.
Friends are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road) Ottawa, ON, on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, 153 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa, ON on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Keith “Moon” Flanigan Athletic Financial Award Scholarship Fund, Queens University, Kingston, Ontario.
