For a long time George was everything for the Ottawa New Edinburgh Club. He had no title but he did it all. He was the greatest Ambassador for the Club. He would greet new people and give them the guided tour of the Club. He always had the time to play with new members and aquaint them to other members.
George was the Club handyman. One of my friends was telling me today that everytime he drove by the Club, Geprge was on the tennis courts working. I commented that if you did not see him on the courts, he was at the Boathouse working on docks, fixing toilets, etc. If we look around the Club today, George had a hand in everything. Look at the sprinklers on the courts, the deck at the Pavilion, the picnic tables, all George's handywork.
It was a pleasure playing tennis with him. It was a pleasure having a beer with him and chatting. It was a pleasure just being close to George.
He will be missed.
