Condolence From: Maryke DeJong-Leyenaar
Condolence: Dear Ann and family,
Piebe and I were sorry to see that Don has passed on.
Our sincere sympathy in your loss.
I"m sorry that we've lost touch over the years. I well remember the joy and excitement that you felt as you were planning for your wedding and making regular weekend trips to go home and see Don during that first year of teaching in Pembroke.
Your friendship and help has meant a lot to me.
May the Lord bless and comfort you at this time.
Your former roommate, Maryke

Condolence: To Donna and family.
I was saddened to see Don's obituary in the paper yesterday. I remember when I lived at your home on 1st Avenue and got to know Don quite well. He was a nice, quiet, caring guy.
Hope you are doing well.
I live in Arnprior now (on my own). I had hoped to make it to the funeral home this evening, but the threat of thunder showers changed my mind.
My sincere condolences to you and your family.

Condolence: Shocked and saddened to hear about the sudden death of Don. the youngest brother of the late Gerald and Doug. The notice clearly shows that he lived a full and happy life with family and enjoyed his music with the Ottawa Pipe Band.

Condolence: Dear Ann and family:

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Don last Saturday. I was in Ottawa at that time, returning home from the burial of my father, Stuart Magwood, just the day before. Don and my father would have met one another in Ottawa in the mid- and late-1970s.

I first met Don when he joined the Band of HMCS Carleton, Ottawa's naval reserve division, as a drummer, transplanted, I believe, from the Cameron Highlanders of Canada. It was there that our friendship grew; Don and Mike Morling on snare drum, myself on bass drum and Dave Truemner on cymbals.

Don was always a likeable guy, smart, well-turned out on parade and who loved band music.

I occasionally look at photos my dad had taken of the Band of HMCS Carleton in the early and mid-1970s and smile in fond recollection of those bygone years.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss.
