Obituary

Phyllis Jean Wallace, of Ottawa, Ontario passed away peacefully Thursday August 27th, 2020, just a few days after her 95th birthday. Born August 22nd, 1925 in Montreal, Jean spent most of her life living in Ottawa and working at the National Research Council (NRC). In her spare time she enjoyed lawn bowling, curling, traveling, and social activities with her church. Following her retirement, she moved into the Villagia in the Glebe, a retirement home in Ottawa. In their good care, Jean made many new friends and enjoyed activities such as residents’ day trips, social hour, playing cards and church. Jean will be lovingly missed by family and friends who will remember her kind nature, sense of humour and sunny disposition. Jean’s family would like to thank the staff at the Villagia for their compassionate care and support over the years. Jean leaves behind her nephews Stephen (Denise) and Jeffrey (Jodie); step-nephew Steve Yates (Leigh-Ann); and her sister-in-law Christine.
Those who knew Jean will always remember her love of animals, particularly cats. With this in mind, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA. Visit Ontariospca.ca to donate. As per Jean’s wishes, rather than a formal visitation/funeral service, there will be a celebration of Jean’s life in the coming weeks with those close to her.
